RUGBY league legend Garry Schofield teed off in the inaugural charity golf competition organised by Gateway Funeral Services.

The tournament at Cleckheaton Golf Club helped raise more than £465 for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, with 11 teams taking part.

The money was raised through a raffle, sponsorship and a auction of prizes donated which included signed photographs of Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington, a signed Coronation Street script and dozens of other top prizes donated by local firms.

Due to the success of the day, next year’s event will be held on Friday June 29 2012.
