Green light for flats on WMC site

Plans to build new apartments on the site of a former Working Men's Club in Dewsbury town centre have been given the green light by planning chiefs.

Proposals by applicant A Wright, which were submitted to Kirklees Council in August, will see the former Dewsbury Textile Working Men’s Club on Oates Street turned into ten flats.

The apartments will comprise one, two and three-bedroom flats.

The applicant also plans to retain six parking spaces on the site.

According to a design and access statement put forward with the application, the building has been vacant for 14 years.
