Shoppers are in for a lovely jubbly treat as Del Boy is set to rock up to Cleckheaton market in his trusty Trotter’s Trading van.
A lookalike of the favourite Only Fools and Horses character is making a visit to the market tomorrow in the van from the TV series as part of a council drive to encourage shoppers to support their markets.
Love Your Local Market week is taking place across the country and Kirklees is offering free stalls at Cleckheaton, Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury and Heckmondwike to people wanting to test trade life as a market stallholder.
The council is hoping to attract new market traders as well as highlighting the importance markets play in the heart of the local community.
At tomorrow’s event at the market, shoppers can take part in the Only Fools and Prizes game show, meet Del and have their photos taken with him and the famous yellow van.
There is also face painting and street entertainment.
Del will be entertaining at 11am, 12.30pm and 2.15pm with photo opportunities after each show.
Coun Peter McBride, Cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This is an important national campaign, highlighting just how important the markets are to the lives of our residents.
“I encourage people who would like to try a free stall to get in touch with the markets team, and for all our local residents to try to visit their local market during this week when there is so much happening, and all of it free to take part.”
