RESIDENTS from a Gomersal home for the elderly will enjoy royal treatment at their Diamond Jubilee celebrations after winning a party pack.
Linda Mumford, who works at Holme House in Oxford Road, won the pack from Co-operative Food, for the jubilee celebration she is organising at the home, after impressing judges with her community spirit and plans for their street party.
The pack will be filled with party essentials for 50 people and £100 worth of Co-operative vouchers to spend on food. The store provided a £10,000 party fund for royal revellers across the country planning parties for their local neighbourhoods and communities, and was inundated with entries.
Linda will collect her prize, including bunting, party hats, paper plates, paper cups and Union Jack hand-held flags for 50 people, from the store manager at their local Co-operative food store in Oxford Road.
She said: “We are all absolutely over the moon to receive a jubilee street pack prize from the Co-operative. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is the perfect excuse to bring our local community together and this prize will really help make our celebrations even more memorable.”
Helen Nunn, head of marketing for Co-operative Food, said: “We were really impressed with Linda’s competition entry and, as a retailer at the heart of people’s communities, we thought their neighbourhood deserved something extra special to help celebrate this right royal occasion.”
