It’s a dog’s life for Ollie the lurcher

A BIRKENSHAW dog rescue charity is appealing for a foster family to come forward to help an unwanted lurcher.

The Yorkshire Rose Dog Rescue charity has been taking care of Ollie, a two-year-old male lurcher dog since it was found in the Spen Valley in October last year.

Ollie, who has been neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped, is due to be handed over to the Dog Trust in the next few weeks, but the charity wants to see if it can find a loving home for him in Spen.

Kathy Hirst, from the charity, said: “Ollie is also great with other dogs and loves to play.

“However he can be protective around his food so if he went to live with another dog this would have to be managed. “He can be quite strong on the lead but this can be corrected with training but he loves going for walks and having a good run. Then he likes to crash out on the sofa for the rest of the day.”
