It’s all white on the night for revellers

A GIRLS night in saw 15 brides reunited with their own wedding dresses to celebrate the royal wedding on the eve of William and Kate’s big day.

Organiser Mandy Stack, 42, of Cleckheaton, came up with the idea while chatting with a friend when the wedding was first announced. It evolved from a girly night in to a full-blown right royal do complete with marquee and a buffet. Mandy even created special hand-crafted invites for the party — to add to the authentic wedding experience.

“The girls were picked up in a car with a big ribbon on it and there was wedding music playing in the house when they walked in,” Mandy said.

“We had a wedding cake that was made by another friend of mine and I tried to make our kitchen look like a proper reception area.

“I even used my original bouquet.”

While the girls enjoyed their royal night in, their other halves were on babysitting duty.

“Our husbands thought we were crazy but a lot of them helped their wives with their dresses,” added Mandy.

“Everyone had a lovely time and there were so many people interested in what we were doing.

“Even people I’ve never met before have heard about it and have been asking me how the party went.”
