A JOINERY firm has been given the go-ahead to build a new workshop at its current works, creating three new jobs.
Westcliffe Joiners had applied to Kirklees Council for planning permission to extend its site at Britton Works in Post Office Street, Cleckheaton, to accommodate the new workshop, but neighbours objected.
They said there wasn’t enough parking to suit the works, which creates bespoke staircases, as it currently was.
The application went before the Heavy Woollen planning sub-committee, when Coun Andrew Pinnock (Lib Dem, Cleckheaton) said: “I think, with the right degree of goodwill between the works and the residents, this application should be approved.
“There has to be a bit of give and take because this parking problem is making lives a misery.”
Planning permission was granted by councillors at last Thursday’s committee meeting.
