A Spen athlete is celebrating yet more medals after another year of sporting success.
Jonathan Bowman, of Royd Wood, came home with two gold medals, in the 15,000m and 5k races, from this year’s British Transplant Games in Sheffield.
Jonathan first featured in the Spenborough Guardian 13 years ago when his mother, Stephanie, donated one of her kidneys to him.
He has since gone on to become a top long-distance athlete, competing at national level in the transplant games since 2005.
He is no stranger to winning medals at the games, having last year won gold and silver in the 3k and 15k races respectively.
The trainee accountant, 27, also entered the swimming event this year, and narrowly missed out on a medal in the 100m freestyle, coming fourth.
The British Transplant Games have been running since 1978, and have grown in popularity year on year, receiving their biggest ever number of entrants in 2013.
