GREEN fingered kids have created their own garden centre in their classroom.

The pupils, from Norristhorpe Junior and Infant School, are focusing on plants an animals as part of a science project and have created a mini garden centre to plant and ‘sell’ seeds.

Teacher Nancy Barnes said: “As part of the project we walked to Whiteley’s Garden Centre and looked around a real garden centre.

“We have been growing our own flowers, fruit and vegetables. I think it encourages them to eat healthily if they have grown it themselves.

“We set up the garden centre so the children can carry on planting seeds if they are working inside.

“It’s like Whiteley’s in miniature!”
