CHANGE is in the air at Scholes First School as a new badge is unveiled ushering in a new era at the school.
Under re-organisation plans revealed by Kirklees Council the school will be renamed Scholes Village Primary School from September.
Brother and sister Matthew and Grace Howell won a competition to design the school’s new logo and headteacher Samantha Marriott is delighted with the result.
The logo will adorn the pupils’ uniforms at the start of the new school year and will also be prominent on the new school ties and V-necked sweat shirts.
The children, staff and governors voted on a number of designs, with the artistic pair’s submission the clear winner.
Matthew came up with the idea of using a sun as an outline shape to represent the happiness pupils feel, while Grace thought that the faces showed how well everyone works together.
Mrs Marriott said: “We are very excited about becoming a primary school and the current year four pupils are looking forward to staying with us into year five.
“We are already discussing new roles and responsibilities for them.”
Scholes will cease to be a first school under the re-organisation, taking pupils until the age of 11.
