Judges on Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model were full of praise for local girls Emma Ward and Saffron Williams in last week’s episode.

Both girls were in the first eight to definitely make it through to next week’s show – and that was certainly a relief to Saffron who had been in the last four for the first two weeks.

Last week’s challenge involved a catwalk in front of avant-garde creative director Daniel Lismore and designer Ben de Lisi.

De Lisi told the model hopefuls that he was looking for a ‘beauty that comes from inside and someone who can wear my collection as though they have worn my collection all their life’.

He told them it was a hard challenge even for experienced models.

Meanwhile Lismore told them he wanted them to be a blank canvas.

As each of the girls took to the catwalk Lismore told Saffron, of Batley, she was his favourite so far and told Emma, of Heckmondwike, she looked great, with a great body and a great face.

The girls’ photoshoot this week involved modelling jeans, and they had to pose with male models on a beach, with top model Jourdan Dunn on hand to dispense advice. Both girls’ best pictures impressed the judges and they both went through to the next round.

Looking at their cover shots, judge Tyson Beckford said of Saffron’s picture: “It works for me. You are drawn to her eyes, you are drawn to her shape, I love it!”

And of Emma’s picture he said: “This is the image that all the young girls will look at and want to be like.”
