Musicians have been recognised at the first Cleckheaton Online Radio awards.
The station, which plays music by local unsigned bands and artists, held the ceremony at the town hall in Cleckheaton, with performances by the station’s top artists.
Among the winners were Jade Helliwell, named best female; John Hetherington, awarded best male and dedication to music; best band was Eternal Teenage Syndrome; best live act was Reight Twang; outstanding sound was Nic Marsden; best album went to Peculiar Blue; best song was Ocean City’s Better Off Alone; the parental guidance award went to Shady Tenors and the best solo act was Julian Socha.
Listeners also chose the unsigned chart show as the radio station’s best show, and named Laura-Moo Morton the best presenter.
Wayne Davidson, who runs the station, said: “The awards were brilliant. It was very stressful and hectic but it was a good night. Best live act Reight Twang opened the show with a brilliant set.
“More than 250 people came and we even had a few people who couldn’t come but bought tickets anyway because they wanted to support us and put some money in the pot.
“We’d like to thank the bands and guests who performed on the night and the brilliant team who volunteered their own time and resources to make it happen.
“We will be hosting it again at the end of January next year.”
