£50,000 boost to go back to nature

A BUDDING entrepreneur has been given a £50,000 boost to make her dream product range a reality.

Founder and owner of Naturally Cool Kids Limited Fiona Wood impressed judges of the Barclays Take One Small Step competition, which is designed to help aspiring businesses fulfil their business ambitions.

Fiona, from Cleckheaton, who was named the North West winner, had the idea for a natural skincare range a while ago, but had no finance, so the competition caught her eye immediately.

Naturally Cool Kids is aimed at helping the symptoms of colds, such as body balm to ease breathing and warm the chest, sniffle hangers for rooms, lip and cheek protector for chaffing as well as an SPF range.

Fiona said: "This really is as good as it gets for me.

"It's been an amazing journey with a lot of support from friends and family on the way.

"Winning the competition will enable me to lay the foundations to my business.

"I can't believe that my product is to become a reality - one that I will be able to witness making a change to people's lives.

"I am now focusing on putting together a plan of action, and I look forward to being able to recruit a full team of helpers from product production to marketing and design."

More than 3,500 people entered the competition, which was whittled down to a shortlist of 30. A public vote then decided the winner.
