ORGANISERS of a family fun run have handed over more than £300 to a children’s charity.
The fun run at the Princess Mary Athletics track was part of the annual schools’ Great North Kirklees Run, organised by Legacy Sport and supported by PJs Health and Fitness Village.
Adults were invited to take part and their challenge was to raise a minimum of £5 for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield.
Hospice staff were then invited to Spen Valley Sports College, where Legacy Sport is based, to receive the proceeds, including £140 raised by the headteacher’s personal assistant Debbie Hale.
Mrs Hale prepared for the 5k run by embarking on a training regime of a daily brisk walk, several walks of up to five miles, jogging, swimming, twice weekly zumba classes, and eating more healthily which resulted in her losing a stone in nine weeks. The fun run will become an annual event.
