Pupils welcome the new principal at the BBG Academy Jo-anne Atkinson

PUPILS at a Birkenshaw school welcomed their new headteacher this week – three months before she is due to take up her position.

Jo-anne Atkinson will join BBG Academy as principal in January, but is spending one day a week at the school until the move is permanent.

She said: “Each time I come into school there is something new and exciting – from the amazing building plans and innovative ICT to the interesting events like the annual Footslog sponsored walk – BBG Academy is a busy and buzzing place to be. January seems such a long time away but I am counting the days until I join BBG Academy full-time!”

The school’s open evening is on Thursday October 4 from 4pm-7pm when prospective pupils and their families can find out more the school.

BBG’s annual Footslog is on Friday October 5, and this year’s theme is film characters.
