HAPPY DAY Alice Major at her 100th birthday party.

A great-grandmother has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Alice Major, right, enjoyed a party with friends and family and a card from the Queen.

Alice, who still lives in her own house in Cleckheaton, was born in Bradford on March 21, 1914.

She lived in the city until after she got married to her late husband Leslie.

He started work at Anderton’s Textile Mill in Cleckheaton in 1952, when they moved to Cleckheaton, and Alice has lived there ever since.

Her daughter Jennifer Harris said: “She spent a lot of her working life as a hairdresser and loved to spend leisure time at local whist drives up until her late 80s.”

Alice has two daughters, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
