A football-mad Batley youngster is set to walk out onto the hallowed turf of Wembley alongside his England heroes.

Ten-year-old Adam Laher will brush shoulders with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney as England face Denmark at Wembley tomorrow evening (Wednesday).

Adam was selected for the honour of walking out with the squad after entering a national competition run by McDonald’s to find player escorts for England matches.

He said: “I’m really excited about being on the pitch at Wembley with the players before the match. It will be amazing to see the stadium and see them play.”

Taking centre stage on the famous Wembley pitch will be even more significant as England begin their preparations for this summer’s World Cup.

McDonald’s Director of Football Sir Geoff Hurst said: “The build up to the World Cup in Brazil starts here and this game will give the players a real chance to impress Roy Hodgson and earn their spot in the tournament squad.

“It’s sure to be a great game and I am certain that the McDonald’s Player Escorts will have a fantastic evening.”

The mascot programme is part of the McDonald’s Community Partnership with The FA. Since 2002, McDonald’s has worked with the FA to help create more football for all by training and recruiting more than 20,000 qualified football coaches, offering 2 million hours of free football to young players across the UK.
