Blockbuster calls time

VIDEO-RENTAL giant Blockbuster has called in the administrators this week, leading to fears that 4,000 jobs could be at risk.

The chain, which has a branch in Northgate, Cleckheaton, made the announcement on Wednesday, and is the latest in a line of big names, including HMV and Jessops, to throw in the towel this month.

Cleckheaton resident John Appleyeard is a regular user of Blockbuster, Cleckheaton, and said: “I am very concerned with how it is affecting people’s jobs and the vibrancy of our town centres.”
