Bungling thieves fled empty handed when they dropped a stolen cash machine down an embankment in Heckmondwike.
The thieves broke into the Burmah service station in Walkley Lane just after midnight on Wednesday January 23.
The two men used a chain to attach the cash machine from the floor to a Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle and tried to drag it from the service station. However the cash machine ended up falling down a nearby embankment where it was left.
The suspects then made off in the Mitsubishi which was found abandoned in the Firthcliffe estate the following day.
Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are asked to contact Dewsbury CID via 101.
