Children's charity to open shop
A NEW charity shop which will help to fund respite care for children with life-limiting conditions is to open in Heckmondwike.
The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust will open the doors to its furniture store in the Northgate Centre next month, but is looking to the public for donations.
The shop's manager Michael Wilkinson said: "We will be providing a top-class service with an emphasis on customer care.
"Our hope is that people seeking a great deal on second hand furniture will see our Heckmondwike shop as the destination of choice.
"We always need good quality stock to sell.
"People with stock to donate can call our head office and we will call back to arrange a free collection."
Retail development manager for the charity Mick Prescott added: "This is our first move into the arena of pre-owned furniture and the new shop in the Northgate centre is by far our largest to date.
"In addition to furniture we will be selling other goods normally associated with charity shops such as clothing and accessories, toys and games and electrical items."
The Huddersfield-based Forget Me Not Trust will provide its respite service to children throughout Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale, free of charge.
It also aims to provide community-based care for children in their own homes and give support to the parents and siblings of these children.
The shop is to open on Wednesday April 7.
