Roald Dahl’s marvellous creations were the inspiration behind a reading day at Norristhorpe School.
Sixty children and their teachers in year three dressed up as characters from the treasured author’s books as part of a project to encourage reading.
Teacher Paula Sweeney said: “We read excerpts from different books like The Witches and created posters on how to spot a real witch. All the children created dream jars inspired by the BFG, who collects and shares dreams. The children wrote their own dreams and put them in the jars with craft materials.
“They all really loved Matilda – they loved the idea of the children being able to get the better of the horrible adults around them.”
