Two lucky bus passengers had their Christmas wishes granted in a competition by Arriva buses.

Steve Goodfellow, from Heckmondwike, placed a wish on the Arriva online Christmas Tree to be able to take his mum Rosina Clay to Wakefield Theatre Royal to see this year’s pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

And Steve was thrilled when Arriva and the theatre granted his wish.

He said: “I’m so glad I placed a wish on the Arriva Christmas tree, and I couldn’t believe my luck when I found out my wish was to be granted. The prize means so much to me and my mum was over the moon.”

And Lisa Hughes, from Cleckheaton, placed a wish on the tree to take her kids to Xscape for a day of skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding, finished off with a meal and hot chocolate.

Lisa, from Cleckheaton, said “I’m so glad I placed a wish on the Arriva Christmas tree, and I couldn’t believe my luck when I found out my wish was to be granted. The prize means so much to me and my children. I can’t thank Arriva enough for this lovely Christmas treat.”

Nigel Featham, regional managing director for Arriva Yorkshire said visitors to the Arriva website had been invited to place their wishes on the online Christmas tree to say thank you for travelling with Arriva this year.

He said: “What better way to celebrate Christmas than spreading some cheer. We were delighted to be able to grant them their wishes.”
