THE new year could mean new prospects for unemployed young people.

A project run by Kirklees Council and Calderdale College is offering job seekers the opportunity to forge a career in construction.

Build Kirklees is recruiting trainees for a diploma level one brickwork course which will provide the skills and experience required to move on to further qualifications and a career in the trade.

The 29-week course will run at the Build Academy in Beck Road, Huddersfield, on a Wednesday and Thursday from the end of January.

Young people aged 16 to 18 not in education, employment or training and adults aged 19 or over who receive employment related benefits can enrol on the course for free.

There will be a recruitment event at 2pm today (Thursday) at ‘build’ Unit 14, Ringway Industrial Estate, Beck Road, with interviews on January 16 and 17.

Call Priti Gohil on 07812586460 for more information.
