At his funeral his wife Patsy informed members of the club that Philip had nominated Mount CC as one of his beneficiary causes from funds raise through donations and charitable gifts.

Patsy was invited along to the ground at Staincliffe to unveil the bench which now proudly sits in from of the changing rooms.

Yusuf Kayat, of Mount Cricket Club, said: “We were truly saddened at the lost of a dear friend.

“Following his funeral, when we heard of the gift he had left Mount CC, we all agreed that we wanted to utilise that in a way in which we would honour Philip for years to come.

“We were delighted that Patsy agreed to come to the ground and unveil the new bench which will stay proudly and enjoyed by all who visit and enjoy the cricket.

“We are equally delighted that Patsy accepted our humble offer to make her lifelong member of the club.

He added: “It was fitting that the club had a registration to commence the junior programme for girls and boys for the 2016 season, in which over 80 children ranging from eight to 15 will take part and receive cricket coaching from Mount CC’s growing number of qualified ECB coaches.”
