A Donny Osmond fan could not believe her luck when she won a competition to meet her hero after a concert in Manchester.

Julie Riley, from Norristhorpe, went to Donny and his sister Marie’s concert at the Manchester Evening News arena on Monday with her friend Susan Berry.

The superfans had already seen the siblings’ concert in Nottingham the previous night.

At the arena Julie entered a competition to win front row seats and backstage passes – and could not believe it when she won.

Julie, from Norristhorpe, said: “If you tweeted Marie just before the show started she would pick a winner to go and sit at the front row throughout the show and go backstage and meet both her and Donny.

“I tweeted like thousands of others in the arena living in hope that I would be picked.

“The winner was then announced and it was our seats!

“We could not believe it – we were shaking from head to foot.”

Julie and Susan were taken to their stageside seats and given backstage passes. Julie said: “After the show we went back stage – Donny and Marie were so nice to us. Donny let me give him a kiss and hug and Marie tweeted a picture of us. They both signed my t-shirt and they were so kind to us. The show is amazing, they are true entertainers and kind genuine people.”
