A Wyke illusionist who has become a global superstar with his unique brand of magic has been awarded an honorary degree by Bradford University.
Dynamo, who went to the former Wyke Manor School, was made a doctor of the University, receiving an honorary degree for his commitment to improving the opportunities for young people through education and pastimes, his continuous support for the city of Bradford and his long-standing services to charity.
Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, got his first break with support from the Prince’s Trust, and he has since been a long-standing supporter of the charity.
A university spokesman said: “He has been a great ambassador for Bradford and has used his media profile to promote and fundraise for a multitude of charitable activities including Teenage Cancer Trust, Comic Relief, Sport Relief and Children in Need.
“Steven has never forgotten his roots, or the city that made him. Conscious to keep Bradford in his heart throughout his career, Steven also endeavours to support youngsters who are disadvantaged and miss out on opportunities in life.
“As an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, Steven strives to help those less fortunate and who require extra help to get what they can from education and support within their community.”
