Exams just as difficult

NOW that all the exam results are out, may I make some observations. Most students are hard working, motivated and want to succeed.

Most teachers are enthusiastic, efficient and knowledgable.

Examinations have NOT become easier; staff and students have ensured that they are better at coping with them.

So those in authority or with some sort of anti-education agenda (and unfortunately there are some – it's a particularly English disease, a mentality popularly called "dumbing down") should admit in shame that their attitude is reprehensible and needs to be abandoned.

Only the most bigoted would refuse to allow themselves a change of attitude.

Stop denigrating our education system and start promoting the positive message that on the whole, education is a success.

I was a teacher or 26 years so I know what I am asserting.
