Fire engulfs Cleckheaton building

A BLAZE engulfed a building on a plot of wasteland, billowing thick black smoke over the centre of Cleckheaton this afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started at around 5.15pm at the building off Horncastle Street and Bradford Road when nearby residents raised the alarm.

A fire crew from Cleckheaton arrived at the scene to tackle the flames.

Police and fire crews are investigating the cause of the blaze.
