Fire HQ catches fire

FIRE crews were called out to a blaze yesterday evening – at their own headquarters.

The West Yorkshire Fire Authority’s headquarters in Bradford Road, Birkenshaw raised the alarm at 6.38pm on Tuesday after a fire started in its stores department.

Units from Cleckheaton, Odsal, Morley and Batley were called out to contain the blaze.

A spokeswoman from the West Yorkshire Fire Authority said: “Minimal damage has been done to the building and it is business as usual today.”
