Flammable liquid thrown over man in Batley Carr robbery
A MAN was taken to hospital after a flammable liquid was thrown on him during a robbery.
The 21-year-old parked his car in Upper Road, Batley Carr, and got out with his girlfriend on Sunday night. They were approached by two men who threw a liquid over the man, which police believe was an accelerant, and threatened him, demanding property.
The victim and his girlfriend ran from the car – a blue Citroen Saxo – and returned a short time later to find cash and a mobile phone had been stolen.
The incident happened at around 8pm.
The suspects were in their late 20s or early 30s. One was white, the second darker skinned and both were wearing tracksuit bottoms and hooded tops.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after feeling ill due to the liquid that was thrown over him.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Andy Clayton at Kirklees CID via 101.
