World Cup fans in a Mirfield pub enjoyed the England vs Italy game while pretending to be owls.
The Great Pyndermonium cast his spell over participating drinkers at the Old Colonial, making them believe they were wise winged beasts.
The pub decided to hypnotise punters in response to a letter from Kirklees Council with advice on how to keep the noise down after games with late kick-offs.
“It went really well,” said landlord Tim Wood. “He used a technique called gynosynchrocosmicinfindibulum to hypnotise people.
“There was no trouble – we found one of the drinkers in a nearby bush after we closed, it was either down to drink or they were searching for mice and voles!”
