The new owner of a takeaway in Spen says he wants to carry on the spirit of its former occupant.
Justin Davis (pictured) has opened Fryday fish and chip shop in Bradford Road, Rawfolds, Cleckheaton, on the site of the former Mary D’s fried chicken takeaway.
Mary D’s was raided by burglars last year, with thousands of pounds worth of equipment stolen. Thieves made off with three pressure fryers, two chip fryers and a rotisserie. They also stole a safe which included three days worth of takings – Mary D’s did not reopen.
Justin, who also owns a fish shop in Thornhill, said: “We have had a lot of people asking after Mary, which shows how popular her shop was.
“I’m very happy to have this shop, and I want to carry on the good work that Mary did.”
