Girl robbed by teenagers

A 14-year-old girl was robbed by three teenagers on her way to school on Monday.

Police say the girl was walking up a ginnel between Prospect Road and Peaseland Road at around 8.45am when she was approached by three girls wearing face coverings who demanded her phone and money.

The girl was assaulted but nothing was stolen as her friend approached and the suspects ran away.

However that evening the girl received a threatening text message from the suspects, again demanding money.

This time the victim met the suspects and handed over £10 before leaving to tell her mother about the incident.

The suspects were three teenage girls, around 5ft 2ins to 5ft 8ins tall. One was skinny but broad shouldered with blonde hair and wore a black baseball cap, black bandana, black joggers and a white t-shirt.

The second was fat and wore a black bandana, black joggers and a baggy cream-coloured top.

The third suspect was of average build and wore a woolly maroon hat and jumper, black joggers and a black bandana.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact DC Marie Whitehouse at Kirklees CID via 101.
