Disgusted parents are taking matters into their own hands after being forced to sidestep piles of dog poo on the daily school run.
The mums were sickened to discover three children had ended up with poo on their shoes on the way to Gomersal playgroup.
Now they have set up the Stop The Plop campaign to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets.
Mandy Hartley, from the group, said: “With leaves falling you can’t see what you are walking in.
“I rang Kirklees on Monday and they were great. They cleared it up, but it’s an ongoing thing.”
Group member Sue Tillotson said: “People think poo is funny but when you have to get it off your shoes it’s not. People say the council should do something about it but really it’s our problem.
“We need to stand up and tell owners to clear up after their pets. When people are approached I think they get embarrassed.
“We want dog owners to be more responsible.”
