Two hairdressers have celebrated 30 years cutting hair at Heckmondwike’s oldest hair salon.
Annette McGill and Kathryn Hinchcliffe have worked together at Alcock’s Hairdressers since 1983.
The shop welcomed its first customers during the 1940s.
Its current owner, Susan page, has been working there for 36 years.
She took over running the shop in 2002 and bought it in 2007 after founders Doris and Arthur Alcock passed away.
Susan said the shop was a home from home for them all after working together for so many years.
“I started as a stylist.,” she said. “Kathryn joined as a stylist too and Annette went to college and then Arthur trained her. It’s a nice little bunch.”
The shop moved in 1951 from its original premises to its current site in Market Street, which is just across the road.
Susan’s husband, Geoff, said: “Arthur extended it in 1962 and again in 1974. He kept adding little bits on.
“There aren’t many businesses of any sort that have been in existence since 1951.”
Susan said: “We still have a lot of customers that have been coming in for 55 years.
“Some of them are in their nineties and have brought their children and their grandchildren. We still have new customers too.”
Susan, Kathryn and Annette celebrated their milestone with a meal at Healds Hall Hotel.
