Hanging Heaton man robbed while walking his dog

A 57-year-old man was robbed while walking his dog in Bromley Street on Thursday night.

They demanded cash but stole the victim’s mobile phone, which had dropped onto the floor, when they realised he had no money.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened at around 9.30pm.

Det Con Richard Brooke of Kirklees CID said the suspects, described as in their 20s, fled toward Commonside, Batley.

He said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with information to come forward and assist us in identifying those responsible.

“Anyone who can help us in our investigations should contact Kirklees CID via the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.”
