Happy to help when yacht was all at sea
A LUXURY yacht owner would have been all at sea were it not for a Kirklees company.
Though Chem Resist is based in Dewsbury – which is at least 70 miles from the ocean in any direction – the company's Fluid Transfer division has answered a mayday call from a yacht captain.
The division distributes for many of the world's leading pump manufacturers and recently helped out the chief engineer of a motor yacht owned by one of the world's richest businessmen.
As the boat was about to set sail on a chartered corporate entertainment cruise, it was found that two new and more efficient pumps were required to fill and empty the onboard swimming pool.
Within hours divisional manager Neil Williams had done the deal and the pumps were on their way to Marseille where the yacht was berthed.
Mr Williams said:"No sooner had we received a thank you note from the captain than another call for urgent assistance was received from the high seas!"
This time the call came from the MY Talitha which needed two de-gassing valves to automatically vent any gases within a system.
Mr Williams said: "Talitha is described as having the charm, style and polish of a top London hotel and the boat regularly cruises the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the Baltic seas.
"She's even been on station at Cowes for the royal family so we are particularly proud to have been of help."
