Have your say on crematorium
NEW parking, covered areas and landscaping will be added to facilities at Dewsbury Moor Crematorium if council plans are approved.
The council had promised for many years to invest in a brand new building for the site, which serves north Kirklees.
But last year, it said budget cuts would prevent any immediate major investment.
Instead it agreed to rebuild the cremator, improve media facilities, and carry out and programme of improvement works.
The council’s bereavement service has now put in a planning application for extra parking with landscaping and covered flower terraces in the Heckmondwike Road site.
It also wants to add canopies to extend the port-cochre, the area where the hearse stops.
Public consultation on the application ends on February 20.
