Heartless thieves steal grave plaque

A GRIEVING family is appealing for the return of a plaque which has been stolen from Liversedge Cemetery.

The plaque and wooden cross on which it was mounted was stolen from the cemetery in Clough Lane between August 29 and September 1, and police have this week issued an plea for help in catching the thieves.

The 2ft tall cross and plaque – which was engraved with, “Constance Swan 1925-2011. Too well loved to ever be forgotten.” – had been placed at Constance’s grave while her family saved for a gravestone.

There were no witnesses and police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact PCSO 116 Rebecca Mackie at Heckmondwike police station on 01924 206357.
