High Bank pupils are taking inspiration from Olympic athletes for a new scheme.
The school in Hightown has introduced a ‘house’ system using government funding designed to encourage more pupils to take up sporting activities.
School bursar Jackie Croft said: “As well as external competitions we have introduced sports ‘houses’ and the children will take part in inter-sport events to win points for their house. Houses are named after local gold medal winning Olympians from London 2012 – Ennis House (green), Clancy House (yellow), Brownlee House (blue) and Adams House (red).
The children have been learning about their own special Olympian and will be writing letters to invite them to visit us.”
