Wedding plans have been left in tatters after the sudden closure of Cleckheaton’s Whitcliffe Hotel. At least three couples face a frantic search to find alternative venues after the hotel went into administration, and face losing hundreds of pounds.

Also: it was a case of a Cat Nav Catastrophe when an intrepid moggy turned up at a Gomersal hotel – after travelling 271 miles from its home in Swansea; the graves of 58 World War 1 heroes will be getting a facelift in time for the centenary of the Great War; and Kirklees is demanding that the owners of the fire-ravaged Maccess building in Gomersal is demolished.

And in sport Cleckheaton RU continue their incredible run and are hoping for their ninth straight league win on Saturday.
