This week we bring you the amazing story of little Ruby Fletcher, who almost died after contracting meningitis. Luckily Ruby survived and is doing well – and her family are now taking part in this weekend’s Great North Run to raise money for meningitis research.

Also in this week’s paper is the moving tale of Sarah Dickinson, who died after suffering a brain aneurysm. Sarah had signed the organ donor register just weeks before her death, and has given life to six people.
