FOOTBALL crazy Lillie Lawson, who has netted 70 goals in just 14 games, has the world at her feet after being signed up by Premier League club Blackburn Rovers – aged just eight.

Rovers snapped up Lillie after she impressed the club while playing for her Cleckheaton under-eights team. She has been racking up an incredible average of a goal every eight minutes this season.

A SPEN Valley music teacher is appealing for help from local firms as he prepares for a charity night in the memory of his granddaughter.

Steve Walker, 57, of Church Lane, Liversedge, has been a teacher in the valley for more than 30 years.

His daughter Rachel, 29, a former Heckmondwike Grammar School pupil, gave birth to baby Isabella Dean in November 2010 but at just six weeks old she was diagnosed with a complex heart condition.

A CLECKHEATON couple are celebrating their diamond wedding with a party at the hotel where they held their reception.

Mavis and Donald Webster celebrated 60 years of wedded bliss yesterday and will enjoy a small party for family and friends over the weekend.
