The Avalon Group, in partnership with Kirklees Community Association and Care Housing Association, held a special opening event for the flats.

The opening was attended by councillor Martyn Bolt, who cut the ribbon and made official the new property.

He said “It’s a wonderful thing to see a community coming together to make things better for everyone.

“That’s what makes an area like Mirfield so great.

“I’d like to wish the best of luck to all those making Bankview their home, and thanks to everyone who has had a hand in this project coming to fruition.”

The property itself will be managed by Care Housing Association, with residents supported by The Avalon Group, who have over 20 years’ experience in providing Supported Living services across the community.

Whilst there will be a team on hand 24 hours per day, the goal for the development is one of independence, with those taking up tenancies being encouraged to live independently, with support close by if it should be needed.

Catherine Wielgus, the Locality Manager for The Avalon Group’s Kirklees team, said: “This is a fantastic development and I’m excited to see the flats come to life as the new tenants move in.

“I know they’ll thrive in this vibrant, close-knit community.”

“This has been as a result of using KCA’s unique status and working well as part of a team for the benefit of Kirklees people.”
