Innovative registering

KIRKLEES Business Conference will be the first to trial an innovative new registering system later this year.

Mirfield based event organiser Hillrich has announced it is working with the AIDC European Centre of Excellence in Halifax on a sophisticated new 2D barcode system, which will allow delegates to access the event at Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium, with minimum inconvenience.

Event director Danny Matharu said: "The conference will involve a mass of delegate traffic throughout the day as there will be a constant flow of visitors through the exhibition hall and within the numerous seminars on offer.

"Entry to KBC for delegates is free and as different people have booked for different seminars, we had to identify a process to determine what each individual delegate has booked on the day. This process had to be super-efficient in order to cause as little delay as possible for delegates.

"We particularly wanted to avoid the waste and hassle of sending out paper tickets for each separate seminar to only then have to issue name badges on the day also. This AIDC technology stores everything in a credit card sized name badge and it is a real coup for us to be the first conference to utilise this."

AIDC expert, Professor Keith Osman, who has developed the system, said: "We are using 2D codes on the delegate badges. Many people may have seen them on everyday things like gas bills or tax forms - they look a bit like tiny crossword puzzles but they can hold significant amounts of data."

Anyone interested in reserving free seats for seminars or promoting their product/service via the Exhibition Hall on September 29 can visit www.kirkleesbusinessconference.co.uk or call Danny Matharu direct on 01924 635 080.
