It's the Real Deal - antiques expert David comes to town

ONE of ITV's best loved antique shows is coming to Cleckheaton – and it promises to be a real bobby dazzler!

Dickinson's Real Deal is currently the most popular daytime show on the channel and is regularly watched by more than a million people.

Back for a sixth series, flamboyant David Dickinson and the dealers are travelling around the country looking for some more antique treats brought in by members of the public.

On Saturday October 9, the team will be at Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre and are looking for people to take part in the show.

As usual, David Dickinson, famed for his bright orange tan, will be keeping an eye on the deals and giving advice about whether to take the dealers' cash or gamble at auction.

But the final decision lies with the public contributors and it's up to them to decide which option is the real deal.

Last time the team visited the area, a woman from Bradford sold her Moorcroft Vase at auction for 320 and a man from Leeds persuaded one of the dealers to give him 640 for his charm bracelet.

David Dickinson has been dealing in antiques for more than 30 years and used to run his own shop.

He frequently took trade stands at Olympia and other large exhibitions and dealt in 18th and 19th century furniture and extraordinary works of art.

Now he's more famous for his appearaces on the small screen – presenting BBC1's Bargain Hunt and more recently his adventure in the jungle on I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of Here!

Visitors to Whitcliffe Mount will no doubt be hoping to hear David say his favourite catchphrases; "cheap as chips", "a bit of a duffer" and "a real bobby dazzler".

If you would rather sell your antiques for cash than let them sit in the loft collecting dust, then phone the DRD hotline on 0117 970 7618 or just turn up on the day from 9am-5pm. Admission is free.
