ITea time for silver surfers
SILVER surfers have been enjoying ITea and biscuits – learning new computer skills combined with a cuppa and nibbles.
The taster session, run at Brighton Street Community Centre in Heckmondwike, is encouraging older people who may have a small amount of internet experience, or never used a computer before to become a silver surfer in a relaxed atsmosphere.
It is also another way for the older people to keep in touch with their family and friends, or find a new hobby.
The session was the first in a five week programme, with the next on October 19.
Lorraine Noble from Get It Together Project, which is running the event with Age UK and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, said: “I am looking forward to meeting and helping individuals who may not yet have had chance to find out about the benefits of the internet.”
For more information on future sessions then contact Carly Webster at KNH on 07970 272202 or Lorraine Noble on 07854 644218.
