THE man charged with the theft of a dog in Cleckheaton has appeared in court again this week.

Gary Marshman, 26, of Bradford, appeared before Batley and Dewsbury Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He pleaded not guilty to theft, including theft by finding, at an earlier hearing.

Jess, a 12-year-old border collie, went missing from outside Tesco in Northgate, in January last year.

She was found dead in the River Spen three days later.

The case was adjourned until Wednesday March 24.
