A pupil at Whitcliffe Mount School has scrummed his way to Twickenham with his very own grand design.

Logan Hobson, from Cleckheaton, took to the pitch at Twickenham in front of 82,000 people before England’s Six-Nations showdown with Italy last weekend to show the world his design for his school’s new rugby kit.

Logan flanked the military as they brought out a giant England shirt onto the pitch before kick-off, and then during a half time parade.

Logan took part in a shirt design competition run by the Rugby Football Union as part of the RFU’s All Schools programme, which is designed to get more rugby union played in state schools.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: “The match shirt is a source of huge pride for the players. When they are presented with it before an international it is a very special moment for them and the whole squad. By teaching these pupils who are new to the game the core values of rugby union and the history of the shirt, I’m sure that these school teams will share the same passion for their own design.”
