A MUM-OF-THREE is on a mission to make more women ‘breast aware’ with a new shop.

Sandra Tore’s Wot Women Want store in Albion Street, Cleckheaton, wants to combine fashion with fundraising to raise money for breast cancer charities.

And the cause is one the 45-year-old cares deeply about, following her own health scare in 2009.

Mrs Tore found a lump in her breast, which fortunately was benign.

She said: “I found a lump and had to go to a breast clinic. I went to the doctor’s and she made an urgent referral.”

Mrs Tore then had the nerve-wracking experience of waiting for the breast clinic’s test results.

“That wait of two weeks was horrendous, I made myself ill,” she said.

“Up until then I hadn’t ever known how to check, or about using the palm of your hand to do so.”

Now she wants to make more women aware of the signs as well as raising vital funds.

Wot Women Want – painted bright pink, the colour of breast cancer charities – sells new and second-hand clothes and accessories, with a percentage of the profits going to charity.

Also inside are leaflets about the importance of checking for lumps, and a chance for women to share their experiences.

Mrs Tore said: “Women are coming in who had breast cancer or are going through it, they feel they have some to talk to. They like what I’m doing.”
